Explore skillfully crafted Armenian wine beyond mainstream
KRYA winery is a young, family owned and operated boutique winery in Vernashen in the Vayots Dzor region, working only with our own grapes grown on the estate. For us, winemaking is an art-form and our passion and true love for that can be felt in every bottle.
The name KRYA (Armenian for turtle) was chosen as a symbol of longevity, fertility, vitality, and patience. Our approach in winegrowing and winemaking is the uttermost respect of nature.
The wines of the estate reflect the volcanic soils of the Caucasus region as well as the harsh continental climate while working only with un-grafted indigenous Armenian grape-varieties.
The cultivation methods as well as the vinification and ageing show the true potential of these rare varieties. Krya wines are more than just wines: every sip offers you a voyage through time, through ancient Armenian culture, a flight over the breath-taking mountains of the Caucasus, an endless discovery again and again.
Sev Areni 2019
The wine has a light red robe with nuances of purple, the bouquet is subtle but complex with notes of wild berries, ripe cherries, hints of wood, vanilla and leather. Velvet tannins and a multitude of fine berry aromas in the mouth with a smooth long persistence.
Indigenous Blend White Dry 2021
The indigenous white blend is hand harvested and vinified with indigenous yeasts
(spontaneous fermentation) and minimum interventions.
The wine has a pale, limpid, straw yellow color with golden reflects. The bouquet reveals aromas of yellow fruits accompanied by citrus notes. Nice roundness in the mouth with notes of fresh pear. Finally, the finish is balanced with white flowers and a beautiful minerality.
